7 Practices to build resilience

Resilience

Watch the Video

I remember a time when I was in an unhealthy relationship and I felt the need to end it. I knew it was time to close that chapter of my life but I was scared…

I didn't have a car, I had no place to move, and I wasn't making much money to afford to pay for an apartment.

I didn't know what to do but the idea of continuing in the relationship was worse than ending it, so despite the fear, I did it.

It was a leap of faith and courage. I trusted things would be fine. I trusted myself.

Deep down I knew I had the strength to get through it all, learn from it and move on… And that's exactly what happened.

Now, looking back I can see I've always had a resilient heart.

Resilience, as defined by the HeartMath Institute, is the capacity to prepare for, recover from and adapt in the face of stress, adversity, trauma, or challenge.

Some people question whether or not they “have” resilience. Is it something we are born with?

The truth is, we all are resilient beings!

We all have the capacity to face challenges, adapt to change, and recover even from the hardest of traumas.

So the important question is…

How can I become more resilient?

There are simple practices you can incorporate into your day-to-day to help you build up your resilience:

❤️ Connect with the heart

🍉 Be mindful of what you eat

💞 Set healthy boundaries

🌳 Go out in nature

💆‍♀️ Take time to rest

🏃‍♀️ Move your body

🧘🏻‍♀️ Meditate

As with most things in life, the key is in the constant practice of simple, yet powerful habits.
